Ab Workouts & Exercises for Six Pack Abs

Read my tips for building your abs to help you achieve the abs you desire!

Everyone wants cut and ripped six pack abs. Females want a flat stomach with just a hint of definition and males want rock-hard washboard abs. The key to getting perfect cut abs does not begin with sit ups, ab workouts, crunches or bicycles or anything like that. The first step for building muscles in your abs is to lose the layer of fat that covers them

Many people may already have strong and defined ab muscles, however they are unable to be seen due to the layer of fat that covers them. To remove this layer, the first step is to improve your diet. Eat whole grains and stop your consumption of white bread and white pasta. Drink water instead of soda. Don't eat candy or other sugar filled products, especially high fructose corn syrup.

After your diet has been improved, implement some type of cardio routine to start the process of burning the fat covering your abs. This can be as simple as a brisk walk around the block or a 30 minute jog. The key is to burn more calories than you are eating. However, do not intentionally and drastically decrease the amount of calories in your diet because this will cause your body to hoard fat and enter starvation mode.

When you begin your cardio regimen you can begin building ab muscles with exercises like sit ups, crunches, and the most effective bicycle maneuver. To execute the bicycle, lie on your back and enter a crunch position but begin pedaling as if you were riding a bike. This exercise is very effective and will work every muscle in your abs rather than focusing on the upper or lower areas.

Try to use a medicine ball or a free weight plate to add difficulty to your exercises. Be sure to change your routine every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain effectiveness.

Allow yourself 3 months to see any real results. However, coupled with an effective cardio regimen and a proper diet you will start seeing results in as little as a month. As always, stick with it! Nothing will help you in building ab muscles more than hard work and dedication!
